Hand Building with Clay
Explore techniques that have been around since
Man first held clay. Your pieces may be functional or pure
art. Choose between pinch pots, slab work, coiling or solid build
up projects.
Classes will delve into ways of working with clay
without the use of the potter's wheel. Starting with basic hand
building methods such as coil, slab, and pinch construction and then
combining them into larger works. Students will learn various surface
decoration techniques using colored slips, glazes, sgrafitto and paper
& wax resist. Additive and subtractive techniques such as
sprig molding, stamping, and cut outs will also be introduced.
This class is ideal for those new to clay as well as those who have
taken one or more introductory clay classes. Repeat students may
pursue independent projects.
