Hand Building with Clay

Explore techniques that have been around since Man first held clay.  Your pieces may be functional or pure art.  Choose between pinch pots, slab work, coiling or solid build up projects.

Classes will delve into ways of working with clay without the use of the potter's wheel.  Starting with basic hand building methods such as coil, slab, and pinch construction and then combining them into larger works. Students will learn various surface decoration techniques using colored slips, glazes, sgrafitto and paper & wax resist.  Additive and subtractive techniques such as sprig molding, stamping, and cut outs will also be introduced.  This class is ideal for those new to clay as well as those who have taken one or more introductory clay classes.  Repeat students may pursue independent projects.
